Recent events of note include:-
- Agreement to enhanced minimum performance requirements with respect to compliance with national allocations and transhipments.
- A decision to implement a trial independent Quality Assurance Review (QAR) of CCSBT Members’ existing systems and processes during 2013 to 2014.
- A Resolution requiring Members and Cooperating Non-Members (CNMs) to report all sources of mortality of southern bluefin tuna and for this information to be included in assessments by the Extended Scientific Committee.
- Agreement for an annual exchange of data in relation to Ecologically Related Species, commencing in 2013.
- Adoption of a consolidated reporting template to the Compliance Committee and Extended Commission that reduced duplication of information and provides improved more comparable reporting between Members and CNMs.
- Signing of a cooperative arrangement between the CCSBT and the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR), with a view to enhancing the conservation and rational use of stocks and species which are of interest to both Commissions.
- The total number of fish tagged in the CCSBT tagging program is 79,508, with 11,318 recaptures having been reported as at November 2012.
